Thanksgiving Turkeys!

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American readers. We hope you had a lovely time with your family, watching football, doing whatever it is you do on Thanksgiving. Even work, we hope if you had to work it was at least a nice quiet shift.

I actually wasn't going to do anything special with the nails for the holiday as I'm being particularly lazy this week. I took that Rimmel off and yanno...lol did nothing. Slathered some cuticle treatments on regularly but didn't paint. Then I saw something on OPI's facebook page that kept eating at me to try.

Most of the time when I plan out nail art of any sort I make it too difficult for my experience level. Which, since I have no experience, is pretty easy to do. If you haven't seen my attempt at a Cat's Eyes mani, lol go have a look and you'll see what I mean. Practice makes perfect, so I tried out some Turkey nails at the last moment to see how it went. It's meant to mimic those turkeys they teach kids to do with their hands, like this:

From here.

So here's my attempt at it lol:

Pardon the big smiley. I have a rather huge and hideous burn there that I figured was best kept to myself. :)  But hey! Zoom in! LOL I think that looks pretty darn good! Probably because it's ridiculously simple but it works. Here's another shot in the usual hand positions to see the colors a bit better:

I'm tickled with how it came out, quite pleased, yes. :D The colors I used on the fingers:
  • Pinkies--OPI Bling Dynasty
  • Rings--OPI Red, Red Rhine
  • Middles--OPI Clubbing til Sunrise
  • Pointers--OPI Down to My Last Penny

On the thumb:
  • Turkey head--China Glaze Unplugged
  • Blue tip--OPI What's With The Cattitude?
  • Sclera--OPI Alpine Snow
  • Pupil--China Glaze Liquid Leather
  • Beak--Butter London Cheeky Chops
  • Wattle--OPI Jingleberry

Très easy and super cute. If you'd like to try it yourself, follow OPI's instructions here. The only difference was I had those french manicure white sticker thingies to outline my turkey head. And, yanno, my own choice of colors since I couldn't remember, nor do I have all of, the ones they suggest.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jess
