OPI My Private Jet

Yes, it's that one. Not the one with the brownish glitter. Not even the one with the blueish glitter. The original, pre-three-free hard-to-find holographic My Private Jet. I bought this ages ago and never got around to trying it. Now that it's become something of a notorious desire of a lot of lacquer heads, I figured I should give it a shot. Brown base (it's not black; I've see a lot of people say it's black, it's not I tell you) with a gorgeous linear holographic siren song in a bottle.

In the bottle.

I'll come right out and say it. I don't think I like it. It's not that I don't enjoy the color sitting on my nails right now. It's definitely got its own charm. I just feel let down when it doesn't translate from the bottle to the nail, and this one doesn't.

Update: Zoya polishes - Julie & Ibiza

See there? You didn't even know I was wearing Ibiza, did you? That's because for the last week or two I've been concentrating on trying to get my new baby, Dreamy Lacquer Company, in a viable position to really make and sell some gorgeous polishes. Forgive me for ignoring you, please?

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming! I love Zoya's colors. Their polishes are so rich and beautiful, I just can't seem to get enough of them. I picked up 10 new colors a couple of weeks ago in the ZOYA2013 promo...to go along with the Ornate collection I bought in December and FeiFei, which I'd picked up somewhere along the line and my namesake polish, Dana, which I found on the Ulta clearance rack totally by chance in November. And didn't I buy two more a couple of days ago off Ulta's clearance rack? Yes, I did!

Update: Fawn and Belle

Doing this one a bit early 'cause it looks bad and needs to come off. And that is not an indication of how the polish held up at all. That's not saying the Sally Hansen didn't chip (and predictably in the first 24 hours), just that it's not as bad as it looks. Bear with me, I'll explain.

First of all, yes, about 15 hours after I finished. Right after the shower the next day, the polish on my right thumbnail was starting to peel back. I caught it before it was a full on chip to glue it back down. This was the prevailing theme the whole week. There were no tiny little bits here and there, it would start to peel, I'd see it in enough time to do some repairs.

Sally Hansen So Much Fawn and Cirque Fleur Est Belle

I was going to go with some kind of a dark vampy red this week then I remembered I got my new Cirque a few days ago. Nuts to that vampy red.

I'm not much for the girlie girl shades but every once in a while one takes my fancy and Fleur est Belle really captured me. About two months before it was even released. It's a limited edition shade available only from Mei Mei's Signatures so if you're interested you'd better get on it. It's already sold out once already.

Update: TonyMoly Galaxy Jupiter

Gush. Gush gush gush gush. Okay, complain a tiny little bit. But then gush gush gush gush gush again. Love hearts, me.

Sorry, just getting my template together. Ready?

This polish. If this polish were a deity, we mere humans would bask in its glory and write hosannas and hallelujahs to its beauty, perfection, and divine influence. It was that outstanding. Really. I'm already looking into other TonyMoly polish lines to see what else they offer that might be worth the shipping to me. I'm also tempted to jump right into the next galaxy (really just planet) in the collection. Love it.

Etude House Dear My Party: Halloween Day and DJ Purple

I lasted a few days with my last polish before I got totally bored. So this morning I took it off (update to come) and started playing with a couple of glitter polishes I've had for a while. They're from Etude House's Dear My Party collection, Halloween Day and DJ Purple. Halloween Day is a blue/purple fine glitter with larger pink hexes in a clear base. DJ Purple is a larger purple hex glitter, also in a clear base. Jess called it a sequin polish, which is not a term I'm familiar with, but I knew when I heard it she'd hit that particular nail (polish) on the head. From the first pictures, Jess thought I had done a sequin manicure using a kit I'd completely forgotten I'd bought from Sephora, the Ciate Sequined Manicure set. Meanwhile I thought she'd very cleverly recognized something I had no clue about or had coined a new phrase!

Zoya Julie and a little something extra

I love a good bargain. More polish for less money makes me very happy. Which is why when Zoya pulled out their Three Free sale on Facebook, I claimed that offer posthaste and ran to their site to start picking and choosing. I ended up buying a bunch of other polishes along with the Three Free, one of which was Julie, a metallic soft wisteria purple color from Lovely, the Spring 2013 collection.

TonyMoly Galaxy Collection Jupiter (GT05)

Dana found these ages ago and I ordered the whole collection from ebay shortly thereafter. Because glitter! Pretty glitter. They aren't all glitter, the base polish is there, but still...wow glitter. A bit holo, too, there are definitely different color flashes in there. TonyMoly is a South Korean brand, lots of different collections. This is called the Galaxy collection...with five planets in it. Yep. Hey, as long as Earth is there, who cares about the rest?

WE ARE THE CENTER OF THE GALAXY!!

Update: A-England Tess D'Urbervilles

I am a horrible person. I just sat here watching a gaming marathon while removing the polish and did not remember to take a picture beforehand. Bad me.

It started off as a REALLY bad polish. As wonderfully as it went on, it came right back off. Less than twelve hours after I finished the manicure it started to chip. Not big huge ones, but tiny little annoying ones that would spiral out of control into the big ones. The first day, I fixed the chips. The second day it all chipped again so in an effort to save it I fixed chips again then put another full (and slightly thicker) coat over all the nails with another top coat.

Illamasqua Glitterati: Manicure + Magic Eraser = Major Mistake

After my last experiment with USE ALL THE POLISHES, I decided to just go with one gorgeous sparkly delicious color. My UPS Boyfriend* had brought me a lovely package from Sephora, which included a beautiful little gem that Jess had told me about a few days before: this Nail Varnish Duo from Illamasqua.

Playing with Sephora + Pantone Universe

After the failure of my New Year's Eve mani, I decided I'd grab a handful of polishes that I bought a couple of months ago...and which have been sitting, completely ignored, ever since. I chose the Sephora + Pantone Universe polishes in Evergreen, Reflecting Pond, Rose Quartz, and Purple Parachute, and a basic black (Sally Hansen Salon Perfect Manicure in Midnight in NY) to round it out to five.

A-England Tess D'Urbervilles

Another A-England, yep. This one is a very dark forest green with some green (and maybe gold?) sparkle to it. You can see it in the bottle but not so much on the nail unless you get right up on it. It's also what I like to call a surprise color. In the bottle it's very obviously a green. On the nail, at first glance, it's black. But then you do a double-take because you realize...oh no wait no it's not. That's green!

Update: Butter London NYE Nail Art

I got so many freakin' OMG THAT'S SO CUTE on these, it was great. Worth the effort.

I've read around the interwebz a bit and seen how some people have had zero chipping problems with butter LONDON, some people hate it and say it chips all the time. I think things like that really depend on the polish and the person. For instance, Dana loves her Sally Hansens. They so work for her. Me? I expect them to start chipping from the get go. And they've never let me down so far.

With bL, I didn't really get that much chip. It was mostly pretty good. There were a few issues...and LOL boy were they big issues.

Update: Butter London New Year's Eve nails

My New Year's Eve mani lasted for two days before I was so disgusted with the tip wear I took it off. I told Jess about it and she immediately blamed the Sally Hansen base coat :) I don't know if that was the cause, but I can't see Butter London failing in less than two days, so I'm going with what Jess said :) Pictures after the jump!

Comparison: Butter London Bread and Butter Pudding vs. Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect Dune

When I was getting ready to do my New Year's nails, I had planned on doing the whole thing with Butter London colors. But when I noticed the Bread and Butter Pudding was very similar to the Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect in Dune, I wanted to see how they would compare.

Butter London New Year's Eve nails, maybe.

After my super-bright red Christmas Santa mani, and some (bad) stuff going on in my life, I was definitely looking for something a little more low-key and neutral in color. Y'all know unusual that is for me, so just humor me and next week I'll be back to some colorful nails!

Happy New Year!
